The Review (By Jack098):

Game Play: Medieval and Shogun were good games with addictive gameplay. Since those two best sellers Activision and Total War have gone away to think and come back with a game featuring some of the best, most addictive gameplay I have ever expirienced. The new 3D map adds a whole new dimension and the useless map in Medieval and Shogun (M&S) comes back in a whole new look and actually is an important part of the game.

Graphics: Rome Total War and its graphics are a huge, and I mean huge improvement on the lousy 2D graphics M&S Total War featured. Both the map and battlefield have been re-vamped and host stunning 3D graphics, the same featured in the TV program 'Time Commanders' on BBC2. The controls are easy to master and with a new host of commands you can perfect your battles to the very last detail.

Sound: Sound effects in R:TW are very similar to M&S Total War. I found this dissapointing as it seems both Activision and TW have over looked the sound factor as non-important. Infact it is the complete opposite. Sound, like in most other strategy games, is one of the most important.

Story: The campaign evolves around 2 factors: The map and battle. If either of these factors were not up to scratch the story would be rubbish. In R:TW however the campaign is faultless. At the beggining the senate (for Rome, or the respective equivalant for other factions) gives you missions to get your faction up and running but after that you decide whether to attack this region, or to attack this army.

Multiplayer: I was dissapointed that you can not do multiplayer with the campaign maps with different people as different factions. Despite this the battle mode multiplayer is really fun with up to 8 players as any faction in teams or in an all v all. You can also do castle seiges and attacks which adds variety to the game.

Overall: 94% Definetly worth it. This game will have you glued to the pc for hours on end.
